My first and possibly only trip to Brunton Park this season, floods and Newcastle United being the major culprits. Wycombe were the visitors, another side with play-off aspirations…

Evidence of the recent floods on the walk to the ground, pavements littered with skips, windows filled with advertisements for builders. The offices at Brunton Park relocated to a set of large metal Portakabins in the main car park…

Accidentally bought a seat in the main stand, which was all very confusing. No turnstiles at the entrance either, just a set of stairs, at the top of which were two stewards with a clipboard. Mistaken for press (my bag apparently) which only increased my levels of puzzled…

First Half Action…

A largely forgettable match…

Wycombe scored early, a Carlisle equaliser closely followed. Carlisle pressed for the remainder of the half but it was Wycombe who squandered the best opportunity to go in ahead, missing a penalty just before half time…

The second half drifted by with very little incident, although Carlisle hopes were raised in the final ten minutes after Wycombe were reduced to ten men. Marcus Bean received a straight red card following a rash challenge on Mark Ellis. Few meaningful chances resulted though…

So, another draw, one of far too many over the last few weeks. The play-offs are starting to look a little out of reach…
