Birmingham City 0 Bolton Wanderers 0

St. Andrew’s… Tuesday August 15th… 7.45pm

Attendance: 20,215

Ticket: £25 – Programme: £3

Definitely not a game to live very long in the memory, barely a shot on target from either side across the space of what seemed like a very long 90 minutes…

Newcastle loanee Adam Armstrong started for Bolton. New signing Isaac Vassell made his debut for Birmingham, coming off the bench in the second half…

We picked up in the Premiership exactly where we left some 15 months ago, unfortunately there was to be no repeat of the score from the last meeting…

Although we offered little going forward, we were comfortable in the first half. In fact, Tottenham were lucky to end the half with eleven men, as Harry Kane should have beeb sent off for a two footed tackle from behind that it was subsequently confirmed has put Florian Lejeune out of action for a month…

Pre-Match…

The game finally turned in Spurs’ favour in the 48th minute when Jonjo Shelvey was sent off for standing on Dele Alli, in full view of the referee. Alli subsequently put Spurs in front, tucking home unmarked from an Eriksen cross. Ben Davies then made the game safe with 20 minutes left to play…

And just an observation, but when are the FA finally going to do something about the anti-semitic Tottenham songbook? I’m guessing that it won’t be while they’re rent paying tenants at Wembley…

Gateshead 3 Torquay United 0

Gateshead International Stadium… Saturday August 12th… 3pm

Attendance: 756

Ticket: £15 – Programme: £2.50

A comfortable, if slightly flattering win for Gateshead, and one which moved them up to third place in the National League…

Torquay certainly contributed to their own downfall, with two own goals either side of a Richard Peniket strike…

My first game of 2017/18,  and  a pretty entertaining one. A typical friendly in one respect, multiple substitutions being the order of the day…

nuneaton v leicester...

First Half Action…

Nuneaton were two up inside the first ten minutes but Leicester levelled by half time. The heavens opened early in the second half, and Nuneaton soon found themselves 3-2 down. They recovered though, and Ashley Chambers earnt them a draw late on…
