11.02.2017… Wolves (a)…

Wolverhampton Wanderers 0 Newcastle United 1

Molineux… Saturday February 11th… 5.30pm

Attendance: 24,876 (4,200 away fans)

Ticket: £25 – Programme: £3

It was cold, it was wet, the game was poor, but we won. And at this stage of the season, that’s all that matters…

Aleksandar Mitrovic grabbed the winner on the stroke of half time, very much against the run of play. To rub salt into Wolves’ wounds he was possibly lucky to be on the pitch, following an earlier coming together with Wolves goalkeeper Carl Ikeme, when already on a yellow card. Rafa made the very wise decision to withdraw him at the interval, he certainly wouldn’t have lasted another 45 minutes…

Pre Match: Outside Molineux…

The second half was more of the same, and much of the credit for the victory must go to a defending masterclass from Jamaal Lascelles and Ciaran Clark…

Job done though, and glad to get this one out of the way. Wolverhampton is never an enjoyable place to visit. Hopefully we’ll be able to give it a miss next season…

Second Half: Wolves in Possession…

Another tough game to follow on Tuesday night at Norwich. Having Dwight Gayle back in the squad is a massive bounus, but Norwich are in good form. I’d be more than happy with a draw…

Wolverhampton Wanderers 0 Swansea City 4

Molineux… Saturday July 30th… 3pm

My 100th game since the start of the blog at the beginning of 2014/15…

A comfortable win for Swansea, and wishful thinking on my part, I’m hoping that every team in the Championship plays this badly when we come up against them this season…

Nuneaton Town 4 Wolverhampton Wanderers 0

JPR James Parnell Stadium…… Saturday February 7th… 3pm

Attendance: 255

Ticket: £5 – Programme: None

A thoroughly enjoyable afternoon that ended in a 4-0 win for Nuneaton Town; hopefully some confidence can be taken from this and carried over into the remaining league games. I’m not expecting miracles but a few wins before the end of the season would be nice…

Birmingham Senior Cup: First Half Action…

Nuneaton went in 1-0 up through a goal from Andy Brown. Brown then added the second early in the second half, before Theo Streete added a third and Rob Ogleby a fourth just before the end…

Next round, away to Causeway United in the quarter-final on Tuesday 3rd March…

Birmingham Senior Cup: Second Half Action…

No match for me next Saturday. Newcastle ‘not prioritising’ the cup; Nuneaton away to Gateshead, just a little too far. Would find myself another game closer to home but nursing a serious wallet hit as a result of three of my next four games being Newcastle games; Man City away (£44), Aston Vile home (£29), Manchester United home (£47 for the same seat), that’s Premier League prices for you. Throw in some train fares from the Midlands and you’re talking penury…

Surely, following the announcement last week of a new £5.14 billion TV deal, the very least that the Premier League clubs could do is to listen to the FSF and adopt the Twenty’s Plenty attitude to away ticket pricing. I paid £5 to get in today and the game was a lot more entertaining than the vast majority of top flight matches that I’ve attended this season…

Nuneaton Town; Dibble, Wheeler, Franklin, Streete, Dean, Whitehouse, Mafuta (Walker7 7), Maris, Armson (Dyer 60), Nardiello, Brown (Ogleby 60)

Goals; Brown (18, 47), Streete (65), Ogleby (88)

Not Used; Sodje, Cowan

Wolves; McCarey, Matinyadze, O’Hanlon, Weeks, Upton, Matgreitter, Reid, Kellerman, Wilson, Enobakhare (Rainey 39), Hunte

Not Used; Hyden, Burgoyne, Ortrega, Graham.

Goals; None
