Sunderland 1 Birmingham City 1

Stadium of Light… Saturday December 23rd… 3pm

Attendance: 29,312

Ticket: £30 – Programme: £3

A more than deserved point for Blues at the Stadium of Light. In fact, their first half performance probably warranted all three…

Both of the goals came early. Sam Gallagher putting Blues ahead in the 16th minute, Lewis Grabban equalising in the 21st. Birmingham were dominant for large periods of the remainder of the half, with Jota giving possibly his best performance of the season…

Gallagher was (harshly) shown a red card for a second bookable offence with 25 minutes remaining, but Sunderland were unable to take advantage of the extra man…

Birmingham City 1 Queens Park Rangers 2

St. Andrew’s… Saturday December 16th… 3pm

Attendance: 20,107

Ticket: £10 – Programme: £3

Another week, another defeat, bottom of the league. A first away win since February for QPR, 17 games ago; their last one? A 4-1 win at St. Andrew’s

The first half was a non-event, Birmingham falling behind to a Jack Robinson goal. The second half was better, blues equalising through Sam Gallagher and then having a period of concerted pressure where a win looked like a possibility.

Pre-Match: The Players Warm Up…

Unfortunately, QPR went back in from as a result of a deflected effort, again from Robinson, and that was that. Overall, just not anywhere near good enough…

Sunderland away next Saturday, another massive game…

Birmingham City 0 Wolverhampton Wanderers 1

St. Andrew’s… Monday December 4th… 7.45pm

Not a great game. Birmingham were poor, not managing a shot on target all night. Wolves weren’t really much better…

Pre Match: The Players Warm Up…

Wolves scored early (8 mins), via a goal missed by the referee but picked up by the goal decision system, and subsequently had much the better of the first half. Blues picked up after the break but certainly weren’t helped by the officials. Alfred N’Diaye should have been sent off for making contact with Stephen Gleeson’s face; bafflingly, the referee saw it, and gave a yellow card. To add insult to injury, Harlee Dean was then sent off for a second yellow…

Allegedly ‘Wolves are playing the type of football the Championship has scarcely witnessed’, well not on last night’s showing…
