Shades of West Germany versus Austria at the 1982 World Cup…

Coventry needed a point to ensure a play-off place, Morecambe needed one to maintain their league status. You could tell…

Second Half: A Rare Attack…

Highlight of the afternoon, and made all the more poignant by Cyrille Regis’ death in January, was the introduction of over 50 ex-players on the pitch at half time to celebrate Legends’ day. 60 balloons were released in Regis’ honour, as that was the birthday he would have celebrated this year…

Three vital points for Coventry, as they remained on course in their play-off chase…

A comfortable win really, all of the action coming in the first half. Coventry raced into a two goal lead inside the first six minutes, both goals coming from Marc McNulty. The lead was short lived though, with Stevenage pulling one back in the twentieth minute…

First Half Action: waiting for a Coventry Goal Kick…

However, the two goal lead was restored in the 37th minute via a Liam Kelly strike from the edge of the box. Three minutes later Luke Williamson was shown a straight red, following a poor challenge on McNulty, and that was the end of the game as a contest…

Coventry had chances to extend their lead in the second half, but were more than happy to settle for what they already had…

Almost into April, and a second new ground of the season. This being my first ever visit to the Ricoh Arena..

After a shaky first half hour, where relegation threatened Grimsby created the better of the chances, Coventry began to assert control. So once Peter Vincenti put Coventry ahead, there was only ever going to be one winner…

Marc McNulty put the game comfortably beyond doubt with his second half hat-trick…
