Bears v Rapids

Edgbaston… Friday August 17th…

Rapids won by 15 runs

Ticket: £13 (Season Pass)

Attendance: 14,895

A win for the Worcestershire Rapids, one which secured them first place in the Northern Section of the Vitality Blast. No place in the Quarter Finals for the Bears, their fate having being decided by Yorkshire’s win at Wantage Road the previous evening…

Moeen Ali scored his second Edgbaston century of the season (having been dropped twice) to give the Bears a mountain to climb. In the end, they fell fifteen runs short…

Bears v Rapids

Edgbaston… Friday August 4th…

Rapids won by 5 runs

Ticket: £11 (Season Pass)

Attendance: 15,113

The largest home attendance of the season to witness the derby game with Worcestershire Rapids. Unfortunately, it ended with a 5 run defeat, in a game that the Bears were always chasing…

It was the Rapids Powerplay that did most of the damage. Colin de Grandehomme was hit for thirty runs in the fourth (his solitary over), and 83/1 had been reached by the end of the sixth. From such a position, the Bears did well to limit the Rapids to 190/7, Jeetan Patel taking 2/26 and Dom Sibley 1/20 from their four overs…

In response debutant Sibley made 49, and there were decent knocks from Ellioot and Thomason but the Bears were always just off the pace…
