Newcastle United 2 Bristol City 2bristol_city_fc

St. James’ Park… Saturday February 25th… 3pm

Attendance: 52,131

Ticket: £30 – Programme: £3

Two points dropped, down to second, but a result that would have been gratefully accepted at half time…

We were as good in the second period as we were awful in the first. Great team spirit shown in the second half, and if we’d been a little less wasteful in front of goal, all three points would have been ours…

It’s going to be like this until the end of the season though, cool heads are going to be required. We need to stay with the team, this will be no place for whingers…

At least we’ve got an easy game to follow, at Brighton, on Tuesday night…

11.02.2017… Wolves (a)…

Wolverhampton Wanderers 0 Newcastle United 1

Molineux… Saturday February 11th… 5.30pm

Attendance: 24,876 (4,200 away fans)

Ticket: £25 – Programme: £3

It was cold, it was wet, the game was poor, but we won. And at this stage of the season, that’s all that matters…

Aleksandar Mitrovic grabbed the winner on the stroke of half time, very much against the run of play. To rub salt into Wolves’ wounds he was possibly lucky to be on the pitch, following an earlier coming together with Wolves goalkeeper Carl Ikeme, when already on a yellow card. Rafa made the very wise decision to withdraw him at the interval, he certainly wouldn’t have lasted another 45 minutes…

Pre Match: Outside Molineux…

The second half was more of the same, and much of the credit for the victory must go to a defending masterclass from Jamaal Lascelles and Ciaran Clark…

Job done though, and glad to get this one out of the way. Wolverhampton is never an enjoyable place to visit. Hopefully we’ll be able to give it a miss next season…

Second Half: Wolves in Possession…

Another tough game to follow on Tuesday night at Norwich. Having Dwight Gayle back in the squad is a massive bounus, but Norwich are in good form. I’d be more than happy with a draw…

A very welcome, and deserved, three points. Regardless of what Schteve McClaren may have thought…

Much better atmosphere too. Louder, and less negativity. And the usual quota of inexplicable refereeing decisions…

Friday Night: Newcastle Central Station…

newcastle v derby...

Saturday Afternoon: St. James’ Park…

An interesting journey back on Sunday too…

Left home at 15.00, first train boarded at 15.15. My second train left Newcastle at 15.40, and was fine until Wakefield before slowing down and sitting just outside of Sheffield for roughly 2 hours. Anyway, eventually we moved, going through Rotherham a couple of times (backwards and forwards) before finally making it into New Street at 23.03. I think that runs in at 7 hours and 23 minutes, or 4 hours late, whichever you prefer…

After that, the 23.14 to Coventry arriving there at midnight(ish). Before finally, and following a taxi courtesy of Cross Country trains, making it back for 01.10. Just in time for the Superbowl Halftime Show…

I then made the mistake of going to bed when the Falcons went 28-3 ahead…
