Newcastle United 2 Brighton & HA 0

St. James’ Park… Saturday August 20th… 5.30pm

Attendance: 49,196

Ticket: £30 – Programme: £3

The second game of the day, and a bit more like it…

A comfortable win, and if we’d taken our chances in the first half then it could have been rather more comfortable…

First Half: A Brighton Free Kick…

A goal in each half. The first, a header from Jamelle Lascelles, the second coming via an absolute screamer of a free kick from Jonjo Shelvey…

Three league wins in a row, nine points, and up to fourth. We appear to be beginning to overcome our early season wobbles…

Two games in one day, a first for me…

Anyway, this was the first half of the double-header, Gateshead dropping home points for the first time this season in a 1-1 draw. Maybe I’m a jinx…?

Gateshead Attack…

To say that it wasn’t a great game would be an understatement, with both of the goals coming inside the first ten minutes…

I had to leave about five minutes before the end to insure that I made it to St. James’ in plenty of time. It wasn’t the most difficult decision that I’ve ever had to make…

Steelbacks won by 4 wickets

Ticket: £71 – Programme: £6

A win for Northamptonshire Steelbacks in the 2016 T20 Blast Final…

A very fast turnaround expected from Durham though, due to the rain affected nature of the day. Within half an hour of winning their semi-final, Durham were batting again…

Durham made 153 from their 20 overs, Keaton Jennings making 88 before being caught on the boundary. They got off to a cracking start in the field too, reducing Northamptonshire to 9 for 3.

It was downhill from there though, with Alex Wakely and Josh Cobb putting on 120 for the fourth wicket. Cobb went on to make 80, and to claim the Man of the Match award.

Northamptonshire won by 4 wickets with 5 balls to spare…
